What’s better than noods that are ready in less than 10 minutes? These dan dan noodles are vegan and made in less than 10 minutes and are full of flavor and packed with protein
The sauce is so easy to make as long as you have these ingredients and chili crisp oil handy
Reserve the noodle water to make the sauce thicker and velvety
The protein is firm tofu mixed with hoisin sauce and five spice This dish is so comforting and filling, and I can see why it’s a Sichuan street food favorite
Perfect for a busy work from home person like me because The sauce ingredients:
2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter or Tahini or a mix of both
3 tablespoons soy sauce 1 tbsp dark soy (optional)
2 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon five-spice powder
1/2 tbsp Sichuan peppercorns, grounded (adjust to taste)
1/4 to 1/3 cup chili crisp oil of choice (store-bought or homemade)
2 cloves minced garlic or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Dash of MSG
1 teaspoon Shaoxing wine
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tbsp Chinkiang vinegar

Introduction to Dan Dan Noodles: Originating from the Sichuan region of China, Dan Dan Noodles is a beloved street food that is as steeped in culture as it is in flavor. Named after the 'dan dan' or pole vendors carried, with a bucket of noodles on one end and a bucket of sauce on the other, this dish has come a long way and become a worldwide favorite.
In my version of this classic dish, I'm embracing its traditional roots while making it more accessible for home cooks. Here, we have the dance of creamy, spicy, and umami-packed flavors that Dan Dan Noodles are famous for, yet everything is simplified so you can recreate this dish in your home kitchen, any day of the week.
